Why The Floridian Club of Sarasota Feels Different
One of the great truths about aging is that most people don’t feel their age. In fact, research consistently shows that adults over 55 often feel 10 to 15 years younger than their actual age. That’s why many people visit a traditional retirement or active adult community and immediately think “This is nice, but it’s for older people—not me.”
The reality is that everyone there is thinking the same thing.
At The Floridian Club of Sarasota, we understood this from the very beginning. We recognized that today’s active adults don’t see themselves as “retirees”; They see themselves as homeowners, travelers, golfers, entrepreneurs, grandparents, volunteers, and people who are still actively living life.
That’s why we designed our community differently.
Rather than creating a dense, multi-story environment that constantly reminds residents they are living in an age-restricted community, we created more than 50 acres of beautifully planned land featuring primarily one-level villas that feel more like a traditional neighborhood of single-family homes.
The result is a community that doesn’t feel like a typical 55+ development. It feels open. It feels residential. It feels familiar. Most importantly, it allows residents to live the way they see themselves—not the way society defines their age.
Residents enjoy the convenience of maintenance-free living, the security of a thoughtfully designed community, and the social opportunities that come from being surrounded by neighbors in a similar stage of life. Yet they do so in an environment that preserves the independence, privacy, and residential character they’ve enjoyed for decades.
At The Floridian Club of Sarasota, we didn’t simply build homes for people over 55. We built a community for people who still feel young, active, and engaged with life. Because the best active adult communities aren’t the ones that remind you of your age—they’re the ones that let you forget it.
That’s what makes The Floridian Club of Sarasota different. It was designed around how people actually feel, not just the number on their driver’s license.
