We’ve got you covered, with a list of the best holiday events happening around town that would put even the grumpiest grinch in good spirits! From singing reindeers to gardens sparkling with lights, Sarasota is the place to be this time of year (and we haven’t even mentioned this gorgeous weather!) Grab your jingle bells and hitch a sleigh ride over to these six fun, festive, and family-friendly events this holiday season!
1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical
This year, Van Wezel Performing Arts Center is putting on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical. Swing by on December 22nd to see all of your favorite characters serenading you on stage with a Christmas classic.
3. Christmas on Main
Grace Community Church is hosting Christmas on Lakewood RanchMain Street on December 23rd. There will be pictures with Santa, rides, s’mores, music, and more! This event is sure to have lots of fun for the whole family.
5. The Jingle 5K Run
Feel like getting some exercise in before splurging on all of those delicious holiday treats to come? On December 21st, the Jingle 5K Run will take to the streets. Music, food, face painting, and even a bouncy house can be found before and after the race. Put on your favorite holiday athletic gear and hit the road for this 5K fun run!
2. The Annual Ugly Christmas Party
Also on December 22nd, The Showfolks of Sarasota are hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party! Grab you goofiest, most colorful and most jingly sweater and head on over for a night of laughs and fun!
4. Lights in Bloom
Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will be lighting up their gardens with over one million lights for everyone to enjoy! Stroll through the beautifully lit flowers and plants from December 23rd to January 6th.
6. A Sarasota Tradition: The New Year’s Eve Pineapple Drop
Visit downtown Sarasota on New Year’s Eve to see the annual Pineapple Drop. There will be live music, amusement rides, food, and drinks. The pineapple will drop at midnight and will be followed by fireworks on Sarasota Bay. This is a free event and certainly one you can’t miss!
